WELCOME BACK DR HASKEW

It is with great pleasure we welcome back Dr Emma Haskew to work following her maternity leave on Friday 23rd July. Many thanks go to Dr Liz Davies who covered most of this time, she was an asset to the practice and we will miss her. Dr Haskew's surgery hours will be the same as before.

SWINE FLU VACCINATIONS

We have received supplies of the Swine flu Vaccine. You are entitled to the Swine Flu Vaccine if you normally have the Seasonal Flu Vaccine because of Chronic illness or if you are pregnant. Please ring us to book your vaccine as soon as possible. Patients who are over 65 without any underlying medical problems are not in the first call up for the swine flu vaccine.

Please note: The Swine Flu vaccination programme has been extended to young children. Any child from the age of 6 months to 5 years is entitled to have the vaccination. Please telephone the practice to make an appointment for your child to come in.

If you have symptoms:

Stay home - do not come to the surgery
Phone 0845 46 47 or www.nhs.uk
or phone the surgery
or freephone Swine Line 0800 1 513 513 for advice.

CHLAMYDIA TESTING

We can offer a Chlamydia Test to all sexually active patients between the age of 16-24.

Genital chlamydia is the most common bacterial sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the UK, being most common in men and women under 25.

Chlamydia is known as the 'silent' infection due to its lack of noticeable symptoms. If left untreated it can spread to other parts of the body and cause pain, especially in the abdomen, and may lead to infertility. If you choose to do the test as part of the National Chlamydia Screening Programme (NCSP) the test is FREE, simple, painless, confidential and totally voluntary. You can do the test yourself - you do not need to be examined.

The common treatment for chlamydia is a course of antibiotics.

If you would like to do this test you can do it at home yourself or please let us know if you would like it done at the practice. If you do the test at home, please ensure you fill in as much of the form as you can. Once the test is done, return it to the practice and hand it to a receptionist and then we will send it to the laboratory. The results will be sent direct to you from the information that you complete on the form i.e. mobile number/post etc.
