London, in 1981 and joined the
practice in 1987. He has a special
interest in Occupational Medicine
and works as Medical Officer at
Kraft Foods in Banbury.
Dr Emma Haskew
MB BS (Newcastle 1994) MRCGP
DFFP
Qualified at
Newcastle University in 1994, and
joined the practice as a Partner in
2002. She has a special interest in
Dermatology & Child Health
(From 31st December 2009 Dr Emma
Haskew will be starting her
maternity leave. Dr Liz Davies will
be covering most of Dr Haskew's
sessions.)

Erica runs the diabetic clinics,
cardio vascular clinics and can give
you smoking cessation advice.

Practice Nurses
The Practice Nurses are available
during surgery hours for dressings,
ear syringing, immunisations, blood
samples etc. In addition Gilian
Soden offers a hearing test
service at special clinics, and is
available for family planning advice
by appointment. Both Nurses are
happy to offer a health check
including blood pressure
measurement, by appointment.
Health Visitor
Rona Thorogood – RGN RHV
Rona Thorogood is in the
surgery on Monday, Wednesdays and
Fridays at some point. She may be
contacted on: 01295 788696, where
there is an answering machine when
she is not available. She can also
be contacted via email at

Rona is able to provide
advice & support in childcare and
health and lifestyle advice for
young people
A Health Visitor is a qualified and
registered nurse or midwife who has
taken further (post registration)
training in order to be able to work
as a member of the primary
healthcare team. The role of the
health visitor is about the
promotion of health and prevention
of illness in all age groups.
Health visitors offer help and
support in the following areas, for
example:
Their child's growth and
development.
Behaviour difficulties.
Sleeping. eating, potty
training, temper tantrums and
teething.
Breastfeeding, weaning, healthy
eating. hygiene, safety and
exercise.
Postnatal depression,
bereavement and violence in the
family.
They are also involved in:
Working in partnership with
families to tailor health plans
to their needs Organising and
running baby clinics Health
promotion groups, breast feeding
support groups, parent support
groups, parenting courses,
participating in national health
promotion programmes such as
men's health.
District Nurses
The District Nurses are available
via the surgery to help and advise
on health in the home for the frail,
elderly and disabled. They can also
provide help and advice for carers
and liaise closely with Social
Services.
